Margie Anna (Janes) Tjarks was born April 7, 1929 to Ollie "Dutch" and Anna (Naber) Janes in rural Hamilton County, Iowa. She attended Hamilton Country School until the eighth grade. Margie was baptized at the Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa. On September 17, 1949 she married Donald Louis Tjarks at Reverend Ella Sours' House on the south side of Iowa Falls, to this union five children were born: Steve, Donna, Timothy, Victor, and Suzanne. During most of her life she was a homemaker, her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were number one to her and always looked forward to a pot of grandma's special goulash and her grilled cheese sandwiches. Margie started working in local retail at Hummer's Tot and Teen, she also worked at the Shoe House until it closed and then went to work at Nairda Jewelry until her retirement in 2000. Some of her past hobbies included roller skating, where she met the love of her life, Don, bowling, and racing horses. Her family would often say that she learned to ride a horse before she even learned to walk. She and Don loved to attend local car races and local sporting events. She never missed an event that her grandchildren participated in. The family would like to thank Care Initiatives Hospice and her caregivers: Sherie Covington, Angela Covington and Betty Gunderson for their loving care of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Those left to cherish Margie Anna Tjarks are her husband: Donald Tjarks of Iowa Falls, Iowa; her five children: Steve Tjarks of Iowa Falls, Donna [Kevin] Vierkandt of Alden, Iowa, Timothy Floyd [Deanne] Tjarks of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Victor [Staci] Tjarks of Ellsworth, Iowa and Suzanne [Michael] Murphy of Iowa Falls. Her brother and sisters: Ruth "Dolly" Silvest of Radcliffe, Iowa, Thelma "Butch" (Dwayne) Draper of Webster City, Iowa, and Merlin "Ted" [VerJeanne] Janes of Alden; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Margie Anna Tjarks was preceded in death by her parents: Ollie "Dutch" and Anna Janes; and her brother: Melvin "Jack" Janes.
