Larry Dean Hanson, 60, of Iowa Falls and formerly of Buckeye, Iowa, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center, in Ames Iowa. Funeral services for Larry Hanson will be 10:30 am Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, Iowa, 50126. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:30 pm Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Burial will be at the Alden Township Cemetery, Alden, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to the family, where they will honor Larry at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Larry Dean Hanson was born May 29, 1955 to Milo and Verna [Sorenson] Hanson in Hampton, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, Iowa. He graduated with the class of 1973 from Alden, and on April 4, 1976, Larry married Charlene Gehrke, his high school sweetheart, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden.
Larry worked for Ellsworth Turkey Plant, Schuld Manufacturing, ASCS, was a DEKALB Seed Dealer and worked in the crop and hail insurance business. Larry was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. The couple made their home on a farm near Buckeye before moving to Iowa Falls in 2007. In 2009, Larry suffered a stroke. Larry passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa at the age of 60.
He is survived by his wife Charlene Hanson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his son: Greg [Missy] Hanson of Buckeye, Iowa; mother-in-law: Dorothy Gehrke of Iowa Falls; two sisters: Jean Schulz of Ankeny, Iowa, Connie Huebner of Alden, Iowa; and an estranged brother: Denny Hanson, of Iowa Falls; a sister-in-law: Gloria [George] Kappos of Ankeny; brother-in-law: Ron [Marion] Gehrke of Alden; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Milo & Verna Hanson; two brother-in-laws: Gary Huebner and Roger Schulz; and father-in-law Louis Gehrke.
Larry was a hardworking man and cared for his family very much.
