Marvelle called me many times to just visit. My friend lived at Ashbrook too and we would have coffee together several times. She also new my dad and would talk a lot about old times at Dows. She taught me how to crochet hangers with yarn too. Nice lady, she enjoyed life!!

Kem,
My sympathy in the loss of your Mother. Even at 95 it is hard to lose a Mom. More memories for you is a good thing. My thoughts are with you.

We're never ready to say goodbye to a parent at any age. Sending thoughts of sympathy to you all as you say goodbye to Marvelle. I think she still might try to call you or send you a sign to know it's her, wondering if you are alright. I had the joy to visit her on the farm and at your home in Denver. I have some flowers from her garden on the farm that followed me here to my farm that will make me think of her when they are in bloom. I wish I could have come for her funeral but sadly it was not possible. I know your Mom and Grandma loved you all tremendously. Sending hugs to you all dear friends..

I'm not sure I ever had a chance to actually meet Gilman and Marvelle, but for thirteen ammonia seasons I had dozens of telephone conversations with both while I was at the Macy, Iowa ammonia terminal. Remember well the many tales of the ammonia drivers about the hospitality shown them by the Hanson's any time of the day or night.

She was a great lady. So sorry for your loss. I got to know her thru Dennis Hanson and I also worked at the Coop in dows. After Gilman died she would come in and I had the pleasure to help her. Again my deepest sympathy.
