Keith A. Helvig, 88, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Monday January 1, 2024, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Keith Helvig will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 520 College Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Church . Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The Linn’s Funeral Home, Iowa Falls Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Keith A. Helvig was born December 14, 1935, to Arthur Bernard and Agnes Lucille (Larsen) Helvig in Franklin County. He graduated Iowa Falls High school Class of 1954. On June 8, 1958, Keith was united in marriage to Mary Kathryn (Kay) Roberts and to this union one daughter, Kim was born. In 1958 he joined the National Guard and was stationed in Missouri and Fort Ord California. He was enlisted for 6 years. Keith attended the college of hard knocks (as he told his granddaughters) and was a farmer / cattle feeder south of Iowa Falls for many years before retiring in 2016. Keith was a previous director of Owasa, Iowa Falls, and Prairie Land COOP’s. He was a lifetime member of the First Congregational UCC Church.He was a member of Iowa and Hardin County Cattleman’s Association. Keith was a member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 1674 Iowa Falls.
Keith is survived by his wife: Kay of Iowa Falls; daughter Kim (Tim) Huff of Ankeny; two granddaughters: Kathryn Huff of Overland Park, Kansas; and Emily Huff of Ankeny; a sister: Mary Beth (Daryl) Nelson of Waukee; two sisters in-law: Sheryl Roberts of Iowa Falls and Eileen Helvig of Sioux City.
He is preceded in death by his parents and parents in-law; brother: Neil Helvig; brother in-law: Tom Roberts; and two nephews: Bret and Brad Roberts.
