Royce Louis Tjarks

Royce Louis Tjarks, 74, of Alden, Iowa passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home in Alden. Graveside services for Royce Tjarks will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Alden Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Royce Tjarks Memorial; C/O Linn’s Funeral Home; 1521 Washington Ave.; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.

Royce Louis Tjarks was born July 21, 1941 to Louis Oltman and Elizabeth Ruby [Sykes] Tjarks at their home in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1959. He married Sandra Jean Lindstrom, To this union three sons were born: Stephen, Michael, and John Tjarks. They were later divorced. Royce was married to Marilyn Calkins, and they later divorced. In 1996 Carol Turner and Royce Tjarks was united in marriage. During his life, he worked at various jobs, the longest years being spent at Welden Brothers building bridges. He spent several years out in Tacoma, Washington, creating many stories from his time out there.

Royce Louis Tjarks is survived by his wife: Carol Jean Tjarks of Alden, Iowa; one brother: George [Peggy L.] Tjarks of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his three sons: Stephen [Kris] Tjarks of Alden, Iowa,  Michael [Nancy] Tjarks of Ankeny, Iowa, and John [Melissa] Tjarks of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; five step-children: Becky [Duane] Wubbena of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Laurie Slaght of Trophy Club, Texas, Michael [Cassie] Siems of Ackley, Iowa, Nancy [Dennis] Morey of Ackley, and Christopher [Shinobu] Siems of Ackley; 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis O. and Elizabeth Ruby Tjarks, and one step-son: David Kevin Row.
