Thomas Henry Gerrish, 75, of Milo, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at his home. Funeral services for Thomas Gerrish will be 11:00 am Thursday April 29, 2021, at the Linn’s Funeral Home,

Thomas Henry Gerrish was born April 5, 1946, to George Henry and Lois Mae (Lammers) Gerrish in Centralia, Illinois. Tom attended the Patoka Community Schools graduating with the class of 1964. In 1965 to 1971 Tom served in the United States Army Reserves. On September 2, 1967, Tom was united in marriage to Margaret Marie McWhirter at Patoka, Illinois. To this union two sons were born: Travis and Tracey. Tom was very proud of his sons and their families. He loved to joke around with his grandchildren and enjoyed giving them a bad time; secretly enjoying when they gave it right back to him. Tom worked hard his whole life and was able to purchase 40 acres of hunting land in southern Iowa to enjoy with his friends and family. He loved to spend time maintaining the land, deer hunting, and fishing. He was very proud of his little slice of paradise. Tom worked as a Supervisor at Purina Mills Inc and retired after 35 years. Then he worked 6 years at Cargill until his second retirement. Tom was a member of the Jaycees and held all offices. JCI Senator #30546 and a former member of the Moose Lodge.
Tom was a member of the Christian Church in Patoka, Illinois were he was Baptized in 1956.
Tom is survived by his two sons: Travis (Chaeli) Gerrish of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Tracey Gerrish of Milo, Iowa; his grandchildren: Brittany (Anton) Reiter of Cedar Falls; Kendra (Lane) Caster of Conrad; Katelyn and Breanna Gerrish of Milo; two great-grandchildren: Vivian and Everett Reiter of Cedar Falls; a sister: Linda Webster of Salem, Illinois; a brother: Donald (Patty) Gerrish of Wayne City, Illinois; a special friend: Vera Dye of Salem, Illinois.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife: Margaret Gerrish; his parents: George and Lois Gerrish; three sisters: an infant Gerrish, Susan Masonheimer and Alice Gerrish.
