Theresa May Rivas, 44, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa. A time of remembrance and celebration will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Chapel on the Hill; 32138 235th Street; Eldora, Iowa 50627. Casual dress is requested by the family. Theresa May Bon Schmit was born on August 3rd, 1974, in Ames, Iowa to Marilyn Virginia Hird and Kieal Loun Dours Bon Schmit. She attended the Eldora-New Providence School District, graduating in 1993. She was united in marriage to Manuel Sanches in 1997, and they were later divorced. On March 4, 2006 she was united in marriage to Ebenezer Rivas-Gomez. Theresa had four children: Chelsea, Victor, Ebany, and Gabriella. Theresa was a CNA, certified nurse assistant, during her life, working at nurse finder, which put her into all the area nursing homes. She last worked for REM Iowa, which was with adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other complex challenges.

Theresa May Rivas is survived by her husband Ebenezer Rivas of Iowa Falls, Iowa; her four children: Chelsea [Taylor] Bon Schmit-Robertson of Iowa Falls, Victor Sanchez of Iowa Falls, Ebany Rivas of Iowa Falls, and Gabriella Rivas of Iowa Falls; one granchild; her mother: Marilyn Hird of Iowa Falls; and a brother James [Melinda] Bonschmit of St. Anthony, Iowa. Theresa Rivas was preceded in death by her father: Kieal Bonschmit.
