Sonja Susette Wood, 71, of Iowa Falls passed away Monday April 14, 2025, at her home. Funeral services for Sonja Wood will be 10:00 am Friday, April 18, 2025, at Linn’s Funeral Chapel, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday April 17, 2025. Sonja Susette Norem was born November 24, 1953 to Edwin Clarence and Vera Glea (Kasischke) Norem in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1972. In June of 1974 she was united in marriage to John Ulfers and to this union three children were born: Michelle, Wendell, and Jennifer, they later divorced. She later married Arthur Wood in February of 1988 and to this union two children were born: Aaron, and Naomi, they later divorced.

Sonja worked at Ackley Processed Foods as a young women. When she left that job she stayed home with her children. When she went back to work she worked as a Certified nursing assistant. Through the years she worked at Hampton Rehabilitation Center, Scenic Manor, and Heritage Care Center for over 25 years. Taking care of the residents was something she loved to do. Sonja loved spending time with family, especially on Thanksgiving (which sometimes landed on her birthday) and Christmas. The two holidays when most of her family could all get together. Sonja had a special relationship with her grandchildren. Her house was the place to go after school. She enjoyed most of her retirement spending time with grandkids, visiting family in Omaha, taking trips to Disney World and enjoyed spending time with her close friend Penny. Sonja had a heart of gold and a willingness to help anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by all.

Sonja is survived by her children: Michelle (John) Reinhardt of Omaha, Nebraska, Wendell (Ally) Ulfers of Springfield, Nebraska , Jennifer (Bobby) Mikesell of Iowa Falls, Aaron Wood of Iowa Falls, Naomi Wood (Brook Brekke) of Iowa Falls; 16 grandchildren: Jazzline, Jennace, Sophia, Jaylin, Carter, Paxton, Dylon, Trenton, John, Landon, Kinnick, Hayden, Wyatt, Bryant, Zachary, Klaus; six brothers: Doug (Sun) Norem of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Darwin (Janice) Norem of Greenfield, Missouri, Duane (Joan) Norem of Dows, Iowa, Daniel Norem of Iowa Falls Dewitt Norem (Dan Couch) of Columbia, Missouri, Darrell Norem of Manchester, Iowa and one sister Sue (John) Gass of Slater, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Sonja is preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Vera Norem; her step father: Lyle Norem; two brothers: Dennis and Darcy Norem; Great Aunt Gladys (Auntie) Kasischke and one niece Janelle Norem.
