Shirley June Remster was born June 21, 1936, to Earl and Opal Christiania (Miller) Remster. She attended the Des Moines community schools. On October 26, 1956 Shirley June Remster was united in marriage to Raymond Ray Colson and to this union 3 daughters were born: Rebecca, Katherine, and Mary. She worked as a waitress for the Savery Hotel for many years and also was a care taker. She also looked forward to parking cars every year during the State Fair. She loved to help her neighbors and at the beginning of the school year she would go to the store and buy school supplies and hand them out to the neighborhood children. Shirley never had a bad thing to say about anyone, she found the good in everyone. The church (Bride of Christ) and her faith/belief in the Trinity was very important to her. She was a prayer warrior and loved reading the Bible. She always believed it is more blessed to give than to receive. The last ten years she attended the Church of the Open Bible. She was very kind and loving to her siblings. Shirley had a fondness for the number three, so much so that she put it on her headstone. It is because she was the third born.
Shirley is survived by her daughters: Katherine Colson of Evansville, Indiana; and Mary Colson of Iowa Falls; son-in-law: Henry S. Kenoyer Sr.; her grandchildren: Lewis and Jesse Keith, Henry S. Jr., Daniel, Luke, Simon, Joseph, Hannah and Olivia Kenoyer; Robert Eakin Jr., and Adam Eakin; 13 great granchildren; sisters: Marie, Esther, and Pauline; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Albert ;her parents: Earl Remster and Opal Shultz; daughter: Rebecca; grandsons: David Martz, James Eakin, and Nathan Kenoyer; siblings: Richard, Carolyn, Beverly, and Doris.
