Sandra 'Sandy' Mitchell Pharris Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Mitchell Pharris, 60, of Iowa Falls, Iowa and formerly of Eldora, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at her home under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Funeral services for Sandra " Sandy" Mitchell Pharris will be 10:30 Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 619 Main Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with the reverends Carol Myers and Jeff Blackman officiating. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Private burial will be at the Ridgeway Cemetery, Hillsboro, Texas. In Lieu of flowers; memorials may be directed to the family c/o her daughter: Janette Pomeroy, 511 Park Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Sandra Rae Sheriff was born August 14, 1952 in Pipestone, Minnesota, the daughter of Merlin John and Dorothy Ada [Spore] Sheriff. Being raised in and around Dubuque, Iowa she attended the St. Mary's Catholic School in Dubuque, Iowa; Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Buena Vista College; receiving her BA Degree in Counseling in 1987. Sandy had been married to David Frank Mitchell and Bobby Lee Pharris. She was a counselor for the Iowa State Training School for seven years, living in Eldora, Iowa from 1959 to 2009, with a short stint in Texas trying to drive truck. She moved to Iowa Falls in 2009, and spent the remainder of her life with David Frank Mitchell.

Sandy Mitchell Pharris is survived by partner: David Frank Mitchell; her son: David [Jennifer] Mitchell of New Providence, Iowa, her daughter: Janette [Mark] Pomeroy of Iowa Falls, Iowa; six grandchildren: Ryan [Brittany] Mitchell, Samantha Jo [Ali] Bennett, Christina [Jake] Bennett all of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Anna Pomeroy of Iowa Falls, Emily and Megan Mitchell of New Providence, Iowa; future great grandbaby: baby Mitchgo; and four sisters: Margaret Henge of Dubuque, Iowa, Coroline Norman of Royalton, Illinois, Patricia Hargrave of Sun City, Arizona, and Jan Leppla of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Merlin and Dorothy Sheriff, a husband: Bobby Lee Pharris; two sisters: Eva Ennis and Darlene Ennis; and a brother: Ron Sheriff.
