Ruth Eileen Booth [Smith], 80, previously of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away October 15, 2016 at the Kennybrook Village in Grimes, Iowa. The funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Thursday October 20, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church; 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, IA 50126. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Wednesday October 19, 2016 at the Linn's Funeral Home Chapel; 1521 Washington; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Memorials may be directed to: The Family of Ruth Booth: c/o Linn's Funeral Home; 1521 Washington Avenue; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Memorials received will be sent to the National Parkinson Foundation. The Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is helping the family with arrangements. 

 

Ruth Eileen Smith was born on March 14, 1936 to Lee and Ella [Daleske] Smith on the family farm near Owasa, Hardin County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa. Ruth graduated from Owasa High School in 1954. She went on to graduate from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 1958 with a degree in Physical Education. Ruth and F. Dean Booth were united in marriage at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora on June 8, 1958. To this union three children were born: Tamara, LeAnn and Timothy. She travelled all over the country while Dean served in the military and even made a much desired trip to Australia and New Zealand. Ruth taught Physical Education and coached High School girl’s basketball at King George, Virgina, Physical Education and Earth Science in Grandview, Missouri, and taught Physical Education at Quantico, Virginia. She also worked as an Administrative Assistant at Oklahoma State University and at University of Missouri Kansas City before retiring in the 90’s. Ruth enjoyed serving her Lord and Savior, writing poetry, and doing research on genealogy. She was a member of the Joy Circle at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Ruth greatly enjoyed the friendships and games while wintering in South Texas after retirement.

 

Those left to cherish Ruth Eileen Booth is her loving husband of 58 years: Dean Booth of Grimes, Iowa; her children: Tamara Hanna of Greenwood, Arkansas, LeAnn Larson of Grimes, Iowa, and Timothy [Lisa] Booth of Stanton, Nebraska; one brother: Carroll Smith of Iowa Falls, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Ruth Eileen Booth was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Ella Smith; and one brother: Wilbert Smith.
