Neva Jean Valentine was born December 23, 1929, in Eldora, Iowa, to Ralph and Nora Sanford Valentine. She attended the Eldora Community Schools.

On September 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Anton John Moravec. They spent over 59 years together before Tony passed in May 2008. Together they welcomed five children; Thomas, Linda, Steven, David, and Diane. Neva was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, Iowa for 66 years. She enjoyed her quilting group and was a member since 1991 when it originated , Rebekah Circle Group, The Birthday Club at church and helping with the Bazaar, and many other activities. She’s always been a longtime friend to many of Bethany’s former pastors. She loved her church family and the friendships and memories. Neva was an extraordinary homemaker, a mother and friend. She enjoyed baking, especially at the holidays, and would be sure to send you off with a  bunch of goodies like maple creams, peanut brittle, and fudge! Neva also loved to cook for family and friends and could always be found in the kitchen whipping up chicken and noodles or frying fish. She never left her place in the kitchen, even as she grew older and children and grandchildren tried to take over. Neva is also known as an avid seamstress. She has sewn wedding dresses for daughters, a tux for a grandson, bridesmaid dresses for her granddaughter, several baptism outfits, and so much in between! She was an active quilter, making beautiful treasures for family and friends. Neva also loved to cross-stitch and gifted many towels over the years. She also loved playing bingo and taking an occasional bus trip to the casino. Family was such an important part of Neva’s life. From annual Valentine Family Reunions with 500 Tournaments, to trips across the country or Canada. Memories were always being made, whether fishing, nut hunting, or camping. She was proud to be a part of almost every milestone for her children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, recently even took a trip across country for her oldest great-grandson’s confirmation. She is a strong matriarch and leaves a living legacy for family and friends. She has touched countless lives in her 91 years, and has a place in many people’s hearts. She truly is a treasure who will be missed, yet her memory will remain strong for years to come.
