Merlin Jean Clock, 72, of Alden, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home in Alden. Funeral services for Merlin Clock will be held 10:00 am, Thursday November 17, 2016 at the Bethany Lutheran Church; 2712 Washington Ave.; Iowa Falls, Iowa, 50126. A time of sharing and storytelling will be from 5:00 until 9:00 pm Wednesday November 16, 2016 at the Linn's Funeral Home Chapel at 1521 Washington Ave. in Iowa Falls. Merlin Jean Clock was born July 23, 1944 to Merle and Bernice [Silvest] Clock in Hampton, Iowa. He attended the Iowa Falls High School, graduating in 1962. On November 23, 1963 he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Wilson, later divorcing. After working at Firestone for a while he started working for the City of Iowa Falls, ending up as the City Street Superintendent at the time of his retirement in 2008 after forty-one-and-a-half years. During his life he was the President of the Iowa Falls Saddle Club and he also owned and operated the Fiberglass Horse and Circle C Campground. In June of 1998 Merlin Clock founded the Circle C Rodeo. After 18 years, his influence on the people that have met him at the Circle C Rodeo is too great to put into words. He has touched thousands of lives, and his legacy will be remembered for years to come.
Those left to cherish Merlin Jean Clock is his life partner: Kim Brocka of Alden, Iowa; his daughter Lisa [Dan] McConeghey of Newton, Iowa; 2 grandchildren: Dan [Meg] Guldberg and Ben Guldberg of Newton; three great-grandchildren: Owen, Lane, and Dawsyn; 5 special friends: Melissa, Crystal, Naomi, Emily, and Jeremy; thirteen special grandchildren; his two brothers Dennis [Cathy] Clock of Alden and Richard [Ravenna] Clock of Alpharetta, Georgia; two sister-in-laws: Judy and Jo Clock; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Merle and Bernice [Parcher] Clock; two brothers: Dewitt "Jim" Clock, and Jerry Clock; and two sisters: Lou Ella [Milt] Barker and Pat [Ted] Verink.
