Obituary

Margaret (Margie) Smith, 75, of Iowa Falls passed away on April 22, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center surrounded by her family. She lived, worked, and attended school in Alden, Iowa during her younger years. She was united in marriage to Gale Smith on May 15, 1964. Margie and Gale had a full life and were blessed to enjoy each other’s love, company, and companionship for 57 years. In the early years of her married life she was a stay at home mom and did daycare in her home. Later in life she worked for The Chamber Main Street in Iowa Falls, Carpenter’s Auto Body, and David Rickel/River’s Edge Associates. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing cards, long car rides enjoying the sights and scenery of Iowa. Enjoyed Iowa and family history. Loved sitting in the backyard watching the birds feed at the feeders and the flowers bloom. Spending time with her grandchildren and following their school sports and activities. Margie is survived by two children Cindy (Mark) Modlin and Kimberly Peterson all of Iowa Falls. Three grandchildren Amanda Modlin, Austin Modlin, Kolton Peterson and one great grandchild Deagan Mincks. Two brothers Roger (Delores) Monson of Nevada, Keith (Judy) Monson of Indianola. Three brother-in-laws Allan (Marcia) Smith of Waterloo, Russell (Gilda) Smith of Iowa Falls, and Marlin Smith of Blairsburg and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Herbert and Pearl Monson. Grandparents Claude and Jessie McCoy, Charles and Mary Monson. In-laws Lyle Smith, Sarah (Smith) Fleming, Charles Fleming, and sister in-law Doris Smith. Linn’s Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for Margie and her family. Per Margie’s final wishes there will be a private family burial at the Alden Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Margie’s family and mailed to 1015 Oak Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.
