Marcus Lamoreux, 96, of Marshalltown, Iowa formerly of Eldora, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A memorial service will take place at the Methodist Church in Eldora, Iowa on June 25, 2022, with visitation at 9:00 am and a service at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside interment. There will be a Masonic Service at 6:00 pm Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Methodist Church in Eldora. The Linn’s Funeral Home Iowa Falls Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Marcus Benton Lamoreux was born November 13, 1925, to George Lewis and Myrtle Harriett (Plumb) Lamoreux in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended Marshalltown High School and graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Marcus worked at the Eldora High School as a librarian. On February 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Aileen Jones and to this union five children were born Marcus, David, Melinda, Mary and Patricia. Marcus was a member of the Eldora Methodist Church, the Masonic Montague Lodge, the American Legion and the Hardin County Historical Society, where he served for 20 years in assorted roles as the Program Director, the Historical Librarian, and tool a turn as Vice President and the President. He was a WWII veteran of the Navy and the Army. Marcus is survived by four children: Marcus (Colleen) Lamoreux of Story City, Iowa; David (Karen Fischer) Lamoreux of Marysville, Washington; Melinda Lamoreux of Amherst, New York; Mary (Jerry) Hartzler of Kalona, Iowa; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marcus was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, his daughter Patricia, a grandchild Joshua, his parents: George and Myrtle Lamoreux; brother and sister in-law Charles and Marie Lamoreux; brother and sister in-law: Lloyd and Velma Lamoreaux.
