Lester A. Hinz, 96, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Lester Hinz will be 10:30 Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, August 16th at Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Burial will be at Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lester A. Hinz was born June 10, 1917, in Wheatland Township, Carroll County, Iowa, and was baptized October 5, 1917. He graduated Arcadia High School with the class of 1932 at the age of 14. On April 1, 1939, he was united in marriage to Susie Anna Mae Johnson at St. Joseph, Missouri. To this union four children were born: Ronald, Sandra, Gary, and Randy. The couple farmed in Sac County, Iowa until moving to Iowa Falls in 1971. Lester worked for Krogh Feed and Supply from 1973 to 1986 and then part time after retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, where he served as head usher for 10 years.

Lester leaves to cherish his memory: his four children: Ron [LeeAnne] Hinz of Simi Valley, California, Sandy [Ron] Lettow of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Gary Hinz of Eldora, Iowa [friend: Darla Grapp of Waterloo, Iowa] , Randy [Rosann] Hinz of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: Rick Hinz, Jeff [Stephene] Hinz, Christine Hinz, Jason Lettow, Stephanie [Scott] Denton, Seth [Beth] Lettow, Mark Lettow, Chris [Gidget] Hinz, Alesa [Tre Cook] Hinz, Ashley Hinz; 12 great grandchildren: LeeAnne Hinz, Kyle Buchanan, Sarah Lettow, Megan Lettow, Taylor Lettow, Landon Lettow, Lauren Lettow, Clayton Denton, Joleen Denton, Callie Hinz, Faith Hinz, Maceio Cook; and 3 great great grandchildren: Hayden Lettow, Heath Lettow, Hudson Lettow.; and two sisters-in-law: Bernice Hinz of Fonda, Iowa, Dorothy Wolfe of Lakeview, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Anna and Adolph Hinz, his wife: Susie Hinz; a daughter-in-law: Linda Hinz; 2 sisters and their spouses: Lavine and Fred Druivenga, Louella and Vic Kohorst; and a brother: Arlo Hinz.
