Larry Butler, 72 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Larry Butler was born April 29, 1952 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital to Donald Raymond and Vivolyn Joan (Toomsen) Butler. He graduated the Des Moines area schools with the class of 1971. He was enlisted in the United States Coast Guard from July 18,1973 to August 17,1977, Petty Officer. He worked in the maintenance department at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines until retirement in 2018. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. Larry was a member of the Bellizzi Mac Rae American Legion in Des Moines. Larry was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Emmick.

Larry is survived by his two grandsons; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Mary; a brother: Gary Butler; and a sister: Donna Butler.
