Kenneth Elbert Neeld

Kenneth Neeld, Sr., 102, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at Nora Springs Care Center, in Nora Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 12:00 noon Friday, June 12, 2020, with Funeral services at 1:00 at Linn’s Funeral Home 1521 Washington Ave, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Burial will be at the Warren Township Cemetery, Mc Callsburg, Iowa. Paster Tim Maybe of Bethany Lutheran Church. Kenneth Elbert Neeld, Sr. was born on December 4, 1917, to Chester Von and Laura Elsie (Williams) Neeld on the family farm north of Nevada, Iowa. He was the oldest of 5 children.

Ken graduated from Fernald High School in 1935 and started a long life of many varied careers. He worked for the railroad for a time. He then moved to McCallsburg where he opened a welding and repair shop. While living in McCallsburg, he went to visit friends in Council Bluffs, who invited a young lady named Marie over for supper one night. He returned to Council Bluffs two weeks later, and at the second time they saw each other, Ken and Marie took off for Lawrence, Kansas where they were married on March 10 , 1947. They were married for over 60 years and had two children, Kenneth Jr. and Kathryn. Ken’s many other careers included: house moving-many houses, barns and farm buildings in the McCallsburg, Roland, Zearing, Radcliffe and Hubbard areas were moved by Ken. Farming, carpentry-he built several houses including one on the foundation of an old church basement, custom cabinet and staircase building, antique tractor and truck restorations. He and Marie moved several times from McCallsburg to Hubbard then Randall, MN, Fernald, IA, Albert Lea, MN, ultimately settling in Iowa Falls to be closer to their son and two granddaughters. Ken resided in Iowa Falls, in a house he extensively remodeled and near his beloved shop filled with tools and projects that he continued to work on until he moved to the Nora Springs Care Center in 2016.

Kenneth Neeld is survived by his son: Kenneth Neeld of Waseca, MN; two grand daughters: Amanda and Laurel, and one sister Shirley Harper of Daytona, FL.

Kenneth Neeld was preceded in death by his parents: his beloved wife: Marie; three sisters: Virginia Neeld in childhood, Martha Lowell, Norma Buse.
