Kenneth “Dean” Anderson, 95, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away July 23, 2025 at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Visitation for Dean Anderson will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday, August 11, 2025, at Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Falls. Graveside services will be 11:30 am following the visitation at Union Cemetery Iowa Falls. Kenneth “Dean” Anderson was born March 3, 1930, to Howard and Mary (McCool) Anderson in Guthrie Center, Iowa. He was raised and educated there and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1947.

In 1951 he was united in marriage with Mary Rae (Clouse) of Panora. He served in the Army and was stationed in Fort Benning, GA where he learned the printing trade. Dean made it his career and ran Anderson Print Shop in Iowa Falls for many years where they raised their three children. He finished his career by working at the Ackley printing shop after they purchased the business from him.

Dean started on the Guthrie Center baseball team as a freshman playing second base. He was labeled the sports fanatic of Iowa Falls as he attended many sporting events; usually 3-4 a week. For a time, he was an umpire for softball and was in a bowling league with a high game of 290. He won the horseshoe pitching contest in the army and competed at the Iowa State Fair for several  years. Dean coached fast-pitch softball in Iowa Falls for many years and also coached the Iowa Falls A's an amateur baseball team, with Elmer Beer consisting of players from Ellsworth College and home-grown talent.

For most of his adult life, Dean played keyboard and sang in various bands. The Velvetones was a group he formed and played in for many years. Later in his eighties, he entertained residents in nursing homes with his singing and piano playing. Dean continued to do so as a resident of Iowa Falls Scenic Living where he passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 95.

He enjoyed taking periodic weekend trips to Colorado to visit his daughter and three grandchildren when they were young.

Dean is survived by his children:  Michael, of Des Moines; Ron (Polly) of Ankeny, and Kelly Krabbe (Kevin) of Salida, CO. Three grandchildren: Starla Carr (Eric Yahl); Astral Carr (Amy), and Oracle Lynn (Bonnie); his brother Bud (Kyung Ja); and sister-in-law Martha Caulkins and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Rae; sister Norma Zuck and her husband Roy; grandson, Abbey Carr; and in laws Mava and Jim Burchfield and Tom Caulkins.
