Julie Anderson Obituary

Julie Ann Anderson passed away February 15, 2022 at 6:50 pm. at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, Minnesota from SARS-CoV-2 complications. Julie was 62 years old. Family gathered to love and support Julie through live streaming means and in-person visits at her passing. Julie’s Celebration of Life is10:00 am Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, 521 Rocksylvania Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 52601. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, 1310 Cedar Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa.

 

Julie Anderson was born in the town of Eldora in Hardin County, Iowa on April 28,1959. She was the seventh child of Mildred Marie (Willems) and Evan Frank Anderson.

 

Julie grew up on a 600 acre farm in Ellis Township, Hardin County, Iowa. She attended Owasa Consolidated School until it closed. From 3rd grade to high school graduation Julie attended Iowa Falls Public Schools. Julie graduated from Sioux Falls College, in South Dakota with a degree in physical education. She also attended North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, SD.

 

Julie was a camp counselor at Camp Look-Away in Oklahoma where she made many lifelong friends. Julie’s first job was teaching and coaching volleyball at Markoma Bible Academy in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Julie also worked as a Youth Director for Parkside First Baptist Church, a Resident Counselor for youth, Teacher Associate, Activity Director and Coordinator at nursing facilities, Community Work Supervisor of adults with developmental disabilities. Julie worked shifts caring for a woman who was a quadripligic. Julie was honored to know this wonderful, Godly woman and continued to stay in touch years after the job ended. It was at this time Julie had her first Multiple Sclerosis episode. These jobs took her to Oklahoma, South Dakota, Iowa, California and Minnesota.

 

Julie’s farm life included many ponies and horses. She loved fishing, campfires, fireworks, and sports. One of Julie’s recent goals was to visit every state park in Minnesota and have her park passport stamped. She collected pins and sweatshirts or hats from each park. Julie was a free spirit, storyteller, songwriter, a poet and played multiple musical instruments. Julie was a member of 4-H, Girl Scouts, local Saddle Clubs, and multiple Baptist Churches. Julie was a lifelong Bible student posting online encouragements whenever possible.

 

Julie was preceded in death by her brother, The Reverend James C. Anderson; and her parents, Evan Frank and Mildred “Johnnie” Marie Anderson.

 

Julie is survived by her brothers and sisters: Delmarie (Felton) Chaplin; Jeffrey (Ilona) Anderson; Joel (Lori) Anderson; Betty (Matthew) Anderson; and Rachel (Daniel) Bru; and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Anderson. She is also survived by 7 nieces and 10 nephews; 18 grandnieces and 18 grandnephews; two great-grandnieces and four great-grandnephews; and many cousins.
