Jerry Lee Bennett

Jerry Lee Bennett, 78, of Alden, Iowa passed away Friday August 10, 2018, at the Hampton Rehabilitation Center, Hampton, Iowa. A memorial service for Jerry Lee Bennett will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday August 14th, 2018, at the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ 212 West Street Alden, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Monday August 13th at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Inurnment will be at the Alden Cemetery Alden, Iowa.

Jerry Lee Bennett was born November 14, 1939, at Iowa City, Iowa, the son of John Henry Bennett and Violet (Hoisington) Bennett. He graduated from the Alden, Iowa Community Schools with the class in 1959. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 18, 1959, serving honorably until his discharge on April 6, 1964. On May 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lois Ratcliff at the Lutheran Church in Hampton. To this union 3 daughters were born: Teresa, Lora, and Brenda. Jerry was employed for 23 years with Farmland Foods, after Farmland closed he worked for Hennings Construction, Iowa Select, and Union Cemetery. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially woodworking and helping out his family.

Jery Lee Bennett is survived by his wife: Lois Bennett of Alden, Iowa; his daughters: Teresa (Jerry) Johnson of North Manchester, Indiana, Lora (Ronald) Osthus of Alden, Iowa, and Brenda Kinney of Iowa Falls; 8 grandchildren: Jeremy, Ashley, Angela, Jennifer, Stephanie, Nichole, Whitney, and Courtney; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Dennis (Jayne) Bennett of Rotonda, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Johnny Bennett, Vera Brass, Martha Hartkopp, Katie Smuck, Doris Henderson, and Dean Bennett.
