Jim was born in Iowa Falls on March 15, 1942, the son of John and Fern Tidman. Jim was baptized May 3rd, 1953 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. He was raised on a farm south of Iowa Falls, and attended the Owasa School and graduated in 1960. Jim married Lois Swaim on March 29, 1962. Jim and Lois had two children, Julie and Michael.
Jim purchased a farm east of Owasa and spent the majority of his life there with his wife, Lois, working the land and raising two children. Upon retirement from farming, Jim spent time in Iowa Falls, Iowa and Storm Lake, Iowa.
Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved to farm and raise livestock and crops. He loved spending time with his family and friends, visiting, watching his grandchildren play sports, and playing card games. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, woodworking, hunting, and fishing.
Jim was easy to get to know and loved talking to people. He used that quality to sell suncatchers and other gift items to stores in and around Iowa. He enjoyed 'running his suncatcher route,' and talking to the people he met along the way.
Jim was a lifelong member of the Owasa United Methodist Church, and served as a Hardin Soil Conservation District Board member.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lois; a daughter, Julie Steinfeld (Peter) of Storm Lake, Iowa; a son, Mike Tidman of Altoona, Iowa; and his grandchildren, Sarah Utter, Todd Utter, Abigail Tidman, Matthew Tidman, Kaitlyn Tidman and Samuel Tidman; Coryn and Patrick Washington of Chicago, Nathaniel Inglis-Steinfeld and Anne Solomon of Chicago; and Gwen Inglis-Steinfeld and Christopher Fiedler of Seattle; and great-grandchild Layla Washington of Chicago. He is also survived by sisters Mary Knutson (Roger) of Hubbard, and Carolyn Burkhardt (Stephen) of Osage.
Jim was preceeded by his father John and mother Fern, and brother Allan, and brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Ruth Tidman.
