George Thomas Tjarks, 78, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services for George Thomas Tjarks will be held 10:30 am, Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel; 1521 Washington Ave; Iowa Falls, Iowa, 50126. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, December 8, 2016 also at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel. George Thomas Tjarks was born July 15, 1938 to Louis Oltman and Elizabeth Ruby [Sykes] Tjarks in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1956. George proudly served our country in the Air Force from 1957 to 1959. He was married to Karen Lindstrom and  Linda Kramer who both preceded him in death. On April 9, 1998 George was united in marriage to Peggy Lee Smith at Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden, Iowa. He worked as a clerk at the post office before retiring in the early 90’s. George was involved with the Cub Scouts as a Scouts Leader and with the Moose Lodge. His hobbies included genealogy, gardening, and woodworking.

Those left to cherish George Thomas Tjarks are his wife: Peggy Tjarks of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his three children: Douglas [Sandra] Tjarks of New Providence, Iowa, Randall [Debra] Tjarks of Greenwich, New York and Christina Tjarks of Iowa Falls; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis Oltman and Elizabeth Ruby Tjarks; his first wife: Karen Lindstrom; his second wife: Linda Kramer; and his brother: Royce Tjarks.
