George Severson, 83, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 20, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services for George Severson will be 10:30 am Thursday October 24, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Pastor Paul Beisel officiating. A time of visitation and refreshment will follow the services at the church. Inurnment will be at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Slater, Iowa. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be directed to his wife: Mary Severson, 413 School Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa has been entrusted with the arrangements.

George James Severson, Jr. was born October 27, 1929, at Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Dr. George James Severson, Sr. and Minnie [Larson] Severson. He attended the Slater Iowa Community Schools graduating with the class of 1948. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Klein at West Bend, Iowa on December 23, 1957. He earned his Masters Degree from Drake University in Guidance and served in the field of education his entire career. He retired from CAL Community School, Latimer, Iowa after 28 continuous years with CAL.

George [Jim] Severson is survived by his wife: Mary Severson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his daughter: Mary Christine Severson of West Des Moines, Iowa; a brother: Dr. Wayne [Maxine] Severson of Ames, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dr. George J. and Minnie Severson; his step-mother: Amanda [Fatland] Severson; and three brothers: Dr. Stanley Severson, Eugene Severson, and Gerrish Severson.
