Gayle Joyce (Buckholtz) Poortinga

Gayle Joyce Poortinga, 81, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021, at her home in Iowa Falls, Iowa under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Memorial Services for Gayle Portinga will be 3:00 pm Thursday March 11, 2021 with lunch to follow. Gayle Joyce Buckholtz was born November 3, 1939 ,rural Hardin County to Elmer Clarence and Gertrude Pauline (Neuendorf) Buckholtz. Gayle attended the Eldora schools. Gayle was united in marriage to Freddie John Poortinga October 20, 2000. Gayle was a bartender for many years. Gayle loved doing landscaping, watching birds, spending time with her family and her two puppies Teddy and Sassy.

Gayle was survived by her four children: Vickie Brus of Iowa Falls, Penny Evans of Alden, Iowa, Chris Vestal (Janelle) of Lucern, Missouri, and Becky Vieth of Iowa Falls; Ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Gayle is preceded in death by her husband: Freddie John Poortinga; one sister: Mary McMullen; one son-in-law Ron Evans.
