Gary Lee Groff Senior, 78, of Jewell and formally of Iowa Falls, passed away at his daughter Carol & Dave’s home in Jewell Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Services for Gary Groff will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Linn’s Funeral Chapel Iowa Falls. Burial will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery Hampton, Iowa. Linn’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary Groff was born March 28, 1946 to Merle Eugene and Marjorie Cecile (Oleson) in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School class of 1964. On November 28, 1964, Gary was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Pedersen at the Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Carol Lee  and Gary Jr. Gary worked at Joe’s Super Value where he met Sharon as a teenager & fell in love, Hy Vee, Culligan, and retired from Christensen Farms. Gary enjoyed watching NASCAR, and liked the Iowa State Cyclones, Harry Potter, watching movies, spending time with his grandchildren & his beloved pets. 

Gary is survived by his children: Carol Lee (Dave) Kruger of Jewell; Gary (Dawn) Groff Jr. of Iowa Falls; grandchildren: Ben (Olivia Logsdon) Arends, Jerad Arends, Annie Arends, Nicole Groff, Nathan Groff; sister: Sharon (Jim) Kiroff; and Sandy (Phil) Thorson; nephews: Scott Groff, Bryan Groff, Jayme Allen, Adam Kiroff, Alex Thorson; nieces: Shannon Groff, Kristy Fielder, Megan Somers, Debbie (Mark) Stratmann, Todd (Dana) Patterson and Danny (Peggy) Patterson.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents: Merle (Mike) and Marjorie Groff; his wife: Sharon Groff; brothers: Larry and Terry Groff, sister: Connie Allen; and grandson: Zachery; brother in-laws: Earl Pedersen, Dar Pedersen; and sister in-law: Carol Patterson.
