Elaine Lauterbach, 81, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Elaine Lauterbach will be 11:00 am Monday, November 26, 2012, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 806 Mill Street, Alden, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time also at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorial may be directed to 2504 Sunset Drive, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Elaine Henrietta Meyer was born March 14, 1931, at her parents home near Ackley, Iowa, the daughter of Lammert and Henrietta Mary Emma [Thies] Meyer. She attended country School through the 8th grade and graduated from the Geneva Community High School. On October 14, 1951 Elaine was united in marriage to Richard Berend Lauterbach at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Janice, Dennis, Diana, Jo-Ann and Brian. Elaine loved being a homemaker and farm wife, farming with her husband for many years 4 miles west of Alden, Iowa. The couple moved to Iowa Falls in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Alden, Iowa; the Church's Ladies Aid; Happy Hour Club, Couples Club, and Bowling League.

Elaine spoke often of her childhood memories of growing up on the family farm near Geneva, working alongside her 6 brothers. Helping her mother in the home helped instill a strong work ethic and the importance of family. Memorable times for Elaine were her church and it's activities, music (playing piano, organ, and accordian), roller skating, dances, and sports. She enjoyed attending events for the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Throughout her marriage to Richard she continued to help with the farming. Working alongside her husband and raising her children was all that she wanted and lived for. Always looking for an opportunity to get family together, she welcomed many family and friends into her home for meals, fellowship and many memories for them and for nieces and nephews.

Elaine Lauterbach is survived by her husband: Richard Lauterbach of Iowa Falls; her children; Janice [Jim] Heiden of Williams, Iowa, Dennis [Karen] Lauterbach of West Des Moines, Iowa, Diana [Chris] Shillington of Humboldt, Iowa, Jo-Ann [Steve] Barhite of Iowa Falls, Brian [Beth] Lauterbach of Alden, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 brothers: Lambert Meyer, Arthur Meyer, and Glen [Roberta] Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lammert and Henrietta Meyer, and 3 brothers: Raymond Meyer, Victor Meyer, and Harold Meyer.
