Edward Bollinger Obituary

Edward Lynn Bollinger, 89, of Savannah, Missouri, formerly of Alden, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at LaVerna Senior Living in Savannah, Missouri. Funeral services for Lynn will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the First Christian Church, 221 Fischer Avenue, Iowa Falls with military honors and burial to follow at the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at the First Christian Church. Memorials will be used to award a Scholarship in Lynn’s memory to a 2023 graduating Alden High School senior. Edward Lynn Bollinger was born June 2, 1932, in Hopkins, Missouri to Harry Warren and Frances Arminta (Dittmar) Bollinger. He attended school in Hopkins and graduated with the class of 1950. He graduated from Missouri State Teachers College on June 1, 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He also earned an Associate in Science degree from Saint Joseph Junior College. Lynn taught High School math in Savannah, MO from 1962-1963, then accepted a job at Alden Community School as High School principal and Geometry teacher. He built so many amazing friendships throughout the years and retired in 1990.  

On November 8, 1974, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Jean Dass. He and Marilyn were Christmas Tree farmers. He was a proud Elder Emeritus of the First Christian Church of Iowa Falls. He was a past Commander  of the Alden American Legion and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Lynn and Marilyn enjoyed nature walks, wild flowers, and bird watching. Lynn had a strong passion for gardening and growing tomatoes.  

Lynn is survived by his children: Brenda Cochran of Savannah, Missouri, Todd (Laurie) Bollinger of Bossier City, Louisiana, Craig (Cara) Aukes of Sioux Center, Iowa; six grandchildren, seven great - grandchildren, and one great - great grandchild. 

Lynn was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Bollinger; parents Harry and Frances Bollinger; son Mark Bollinger; brothers: George (Coryal) Bollinger, Donald (Bev) Bollinger, and Robert (Lila) Bollinger.
