Della Elizabeth (Evans) Woomer

Della Elizabeth Woomer, 68, of Iowa and formerly of Smyrna, Delaware passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, with loved ones by her side, Della Elizabeth Evans was born May 21, 1953, to Joseph Bruce Evans and Della Elizabeth (Scofield) Evans in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she was raised with her 4 siblings. The family eventually moved to Delaware where Della met and married her rock, Michael Guy Woomer in 1978. Della Was a lifelong employee at DHCI (Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill), at the age of 16 she received a Nurse Aide Certificate then later she got her LPN, making her the first in her family to graduate college. Later in life Della lived out a dream of being a traveling Nurse in Alaska where she worked for 4 years before retiring. Due to excessive moving as a child Della would often say her biggest accomplishment was making sure her daughters started and finished school in the same school district and this she was proud of.  Della had many attributes such as fostering adults with disabilities, church involvement and never met a stranger.  She would give all she had to anyone in need and didn’t think twice about it.  Della loved to cook and would often show up to your house with bags of groceries and make a meal. She also liked to involve the grandchildren in the cooking. Della loved her grandchildren fiercely and always worked to make sure they had what they needed.  Her laughter and love of God will never be forgotten by those close to her. She will also be remembered for her card signature “Just be There”, her reminder that she wants to see us in Heaven.  

Della is survived by her children; step-sons Michael (Ann) Woomer of Lewistown, Pennsylvania; Jeffery Woomer of Willington, Delaware; daughter; Lammisa Stanislow of Florida; daughter Christina (Jeff) Scott of Iowa with whom she resided; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her lifelong friend Judith L. Franklin; many Nieces and Nephews.  

Della is preceded in death by: her husband: Michael Woomer; her parents and a sibling. 

A Celebration of life for Della Woomer will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Church of the Open Bible, 408 College Avenue, Iowa Falls.
