Dean Alan Richtsmeier, 75, of Des Moines, Iowa, and formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Fluer Heights Care Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for Dean Richtsmeier will be 11:00 am, Saturday September 21, 2019 at the St. Peter’s UCC Church in Rural Geneva, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 am also Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the St. Peter’s UCC Church in rural Geneva. Dean Alan Richtsmeier was born October 11, 1943 to Herman and Alice [Brass] Richtsmeier at his parents home in Franklin County, Iowa. He attended the Geneva Community Schools and graduated from the Iowa Falls Community School District in 1961. He was in the United States Air Force from 1967 until 1971. During most of his life he worked as a plumber and later in maintenance, mostly in nursing homes. He was a member of the United Church of Christ St. Peter’s in rural Geneva, Iowa. He was an avid bowler in his early life, and loved the Raider Lanes in Ackley, Iowa. He enjoyed western books, however John Wayne was his love in the western world. He also enjoyed his toy tractors, especially the John Deere models.
Dean Alan Richtsmeier is survived by his three children: Susan Emblen-Richtsmeier of Sebastopol, California, Lee Alan Richtsmeier of Rohnert Park, California, and Lane Alan Richtsmeier of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother: Herman [Patty] Richtsmeier of Ames, Iowa; and two nieces: Lynne Richtsmeier of Ames, Iowa and Lori [Tim] Hommer of Grimes, Iowa. Dean Richtsmeier is preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Alice Richtsmeier; his wife Charlene Richtsmeier a sister in infancy; and a nephew: Kent Richtsmeier.
