Clinton (Clint) Duane Meyer of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away, in his sleep, at the age of 94 ½ on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Clint was born in Jackson, Minnesota on March 7th, 1930. He lived there with his parents, Edward and Edith (Collins) Meyer, before they moved to their farm in Alden, Iowa.

Clint graduated from Alden High School in 1948. Went to work for Ben Mulford where he helped to build the highway 65 roller skating rink between Iowa Falls and Hampton. Clint met Joan Hokel at that skating rink, courted her, married her in 1950, and grew a family of 5 in Alden. Joan passed away on September 2, 2002.

Clint and Joan moved into an unused farmhouse, located on the same acreage as his parents. The family grew to include Dennis, Steven, and Loreen. As Clint enlarged the 20’ x 24’ one story farmhouse into a 2 story plus extending it to the West to become a 4 bedroom home. Later adding on a 24’ x 24’ family room with a large fireplace.

Being a huge family man, Clint and family made sure to tour nearly every State in the United States in their Holiday Rambler trailer house. There the family experienced the multitude of historical places, cultural/regional foods, customs, and plights of the people. A member of the Pack and Go Camper club of Iowa Falls, the family enjoyed friendships, games playing, and story telling.

Closer to home, Clint was an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper. Accustomed to sharing these skills, the family joined in. In their later years, Clint and Joan were known to fish for Northern and Walleye in Minnesota and Canada.

Clint worked for Elmer Hanson doing construction work for the Purina Bean Plant in Iowa Falls. Further, he helped build the Highland Golf Clubhouse.

He loved helping farmers. Over the years he sold MoorMan’s Feed, then Walnut Grove feed, Peterson soybeans, Dekalb seed corn, Butler buildings and bins from the Butler dealership he owned, Lester buildings for K-Van Construction Company, and hog houses for Modern Hog farms.

Clint then sold life insurance followed by broadband microwave internet to school districts with Timberidge Technologies. While doing that, he crafted decoupaged pictures, with clocks embedded, and offered a unique business plan where businesses could share in the profits of those crafts. He developed a route of restaurants and truck stops in Iowa and surrounding States with wild reception and success. He fully retired at age 79.

Clint was a District Evangelism Chairperson for the Methodist Conference, a lay leader and speaker for the Methodist Church at Alden, and taught adult Sunday school there for ten years. He and Joan went on many Methodist lay witness team missions in Iowa and Minnesota with Dr. Art and Fran Wesselink of Eagle Grove. The couple witnessed many people receiving healing and accepting Christ. Clint was a District man for Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship. Later, Clint taught adult Sunday school at the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg for nine years.

Clint and Joan went to Israel in 1984; with a side trip to Rome.

He loved fine woodworking; building a Grandfathers Clock, five mantel clocks, three-deck bird feeders for his family and trucks, sheds and other toys for his grandchildren.  He used the walnut from Iowa trees which he and his boys felled, cut into boards, and dried.

Clint married Patricia (Pat) Rollene on December 27, 2003, moving to Iowa Falls. They met at Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg. Clint and Pat spent every winter at their second home in Mesa, Arizona. Clint enjoyed playing in the 8-ball pool tournament and won 2nd place in the annual tournament. His name was put on their 8-ball tournament plaque. Clint and Pat enjoyed family and friends who visited them in Mesa. He became interested in 0-gauge trains.

Back in Iowa, he built a large train layout that had four different trains running at one time. He built all the scenery, houses, depot, a large round table and two storage sheds for the train engines.  He also added a pool table and movie theater room.

Clinton was preceded in death by his first wife Joan, his parents Edward and Edith Meyer and his brother James Meyer. He is survived by his wife Patricia, sister Cheryl Hansen, children Dennis (Linda) Meyer, Steven (Lori) Meyer and Loreen (Dean) Jury, stepchildren Carol (Frank) Baedke, Karen (Scott) Barrett and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Linn’s Funeral Home in Iowa Falls on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Visitation will be at 10:00 on the 8th, with the funeral following at 11:00. A lunch will be served before internment at the Alden Cemetery.
