Cletys I. Howay, 101 of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Scenic Manor Care Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Scenic Manor Care Center Main Dining Room at 2:00 p.m. on July 15, 2013 with her friend and retired Chaplain, Harriet Norem officiating. Internment will take place at Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The Linn's Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Cletys Irene Spoor was born January 3, 1912 in Armstrong, Iowa, the daughter of Emmet and Mary (Wagner) Spoor. The family moved to Iowa Falls in 1904 where Cletys completed her schooling. She married Paul Dettbarn on December 18, 1931. To this union two daughters where born, Wilma Irene and Mary Pauline. Paul preceded her in death on June 28. 1963. She later married Patrick Howay who died in 1970.

She will be remembered as a wonderful seamstress, knitter and crotchetier. She was employed at several local retailers and more recently with the Collegiate Manufacturing Co. in Ames and Boyd Manufacturing Co. in Iowa Falls where she was a departmental supervisor where she retired.
She was a member of the Averine Rebekah Lodge #196 for many years.

Her younger daughter, Mary Bowman, passed away on February 5, 2010. Cletys Dettbarn Howay is survived by a daughter, Wilma Sanders and
Don of Dubuque Iowa, a son in law, Jack Bowman, of Iowa Falls, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a sister, Doris Sielaff of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Clone Lake and Cecil Walker.

The family wants to thank the staff at Ashbrook Assisted Living and the Scenic Care Center who took such loving care of Cletys during the last 11 years of her life. Also her grand daughter, Dawn Bowman who faithfully visited her grandmother weekly as many of the family lived away from Iowa Falls.
