Ilene Hunter, 93, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Ilene Hunter will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, 521 Rocksylvania Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 10th at the Linn's Funeral Home 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery, Churdan, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church Memorial fund. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Catherine Ilene Trumbo was born October 29, 1919, at Chula, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd Burch Trumbo and Lessie M. [Powell] Trumbo. She attended the Cabool Consolidated Schools and graduated from the Cabool High School with the class of 1937. She went on to the Southwest Missouri State University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1941. She then taught school in Cabool, Missouri until her marriage to Carl Henry Hunter on August 20, 1944, at the First Baptist Church, Cabool, Missouri. After Carl's discharge from the army the couple moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa. Ilene returned to school later and received her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. She then became the Assistant Librarian of Ellsworth Community College, and then the Elementary Librarian for the Eldora, Iowa Community Schools for many years until retirement. After retirement she did volunteer work for the Iowa Falls Nutrition Site for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Iowa Falls, where she was the Financial Secretary for many years, taught Sunday School for many years, and a member of the Memorial Committee. She was an active member of the Craft Club and the Retired Teachers Association. She was also a former member of the Air Stream Wally Byam Caravan Club International.

Ilene Hunter is survived by her son Tracy [Karen] Hunter of Iowa Falls, Iowa; a daughter-in-law: Marjeane Hunter of Ankeny, Iowa; two grandchildren: Troy Hunter [Fiancé©: Tamara Fochs] of Appleton, Wisconsin, Travis Hunter of Wellsburg, Iowa; six great grandchildren: Chase-Allen Hunter of Iowa Falls, Serena Hunter of Wellsburg, Tiana Hunter of Wellsburg, and Brandon, Rebecca and Nichole Fochs of Appleton, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lessie and Floyd Trumbo; her husband: Carl Hunter; two sons: Kent in infancy and Dale Hunter; and her siblings: Leonard Trumbo, Gladene Kiefer, and Ralph Trumbo.
