Carol Jeanette Meyer, age 72, of Des Moines, IA. passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home surrounded by family. She was born December 25th, 1940 in Jefferson City, MO. the daughter of Roy and Pearl Moad, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, and husband, Donald Meyer.
She had 3 other major loves throughout her life. First and foremost was her love for God and her Christian faith. All of her days no matter what the struggle or triumph, she gave the glory to Jesus never accepting recognition of her own efforts. Her second love was that of her family. While she was a housewife by definition, her role was that of teacher. She taught her family unconditional love, understanding, guidance, patience, support and most of all about their salvation and how to pursue it every day; with all that they can. Her other love was for reading where she would often read at least 1 book each day for the bulk of her adult life.
Carol is survived by her children; Kenya (Blacky), Donnie (Jenna), Jay (Deana), and Jamie (Mandi) along with her grandchildren; Bryan, Geoff, Morgan, MacKenzie, Bailey and Rylie, as well as siblings; Gene Moad, Sara Bias, Vivian Cunningham, and Polly Grey. She was preceded in death along with her parents and husband by 5 brothers and 5 sisters; Bob, David, Leroy, Harvey, Jerry, Gary, Helen Connel, Viola Abbott, Mary McDermit, and Bonnie Hobbs.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 20th at 11:00am at New Hope Assembly of God Church, 4445 70th St., Urbandale, IA. Services will begin at noon, followed by a reception at the church. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. at Northlawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Iowa Falls, IA.
She was a truly beautiful soul filled with love and support for those that mattered most to her in life and will be dearly missed by anyone that knew her.
