Betty Ruth Mallon was born March 19, 1932, to Lawrence Rufus and Thelma Catherine (Cook) Mallon at their home in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated Hampton High School Class of 1950. Throughout Betty Ruth’s life she enjoyed the love of dance starting at age four and half than perfected her dance abilities by taking lessons from Rose Lorenz studio in Des Moines. She performed and was an equal partner with Dean Diggins at many dance events. Betty Ruth continued her talent by teaching dance (tap/ballet) to numerous children in the Iowa Falls area and presenting full production dance recitals at Ellsworth Community College Auditorium. Betty later joined General Publishing & Binding Company, where she typed church cookbooks and family histories, her initials still can be found inside the cover of many old books.
In 1953 Betty Ruth married Neil D. Mann and of that marriage two children were born; Randall and Jolaine.
Becoming widowed after a truck accident caused the death of Neil, in 1968: Betty Ruth devoted herself to her children by traveling, camping and taking up the hobby of roller skating. At the Iowa Falls Roller Rink she met Robert E. Bauge a former schoolmate and in 1975 they were united in marriage and she welcomed his eight children into her family unit. After 21 years of marriage, Robert was involved in a traffic accident, and left her widowed for a second time.
