Velma “Alice” Herrold, 93, of Owasa, Iowa passed away, April 13, 2021, at her daughters home in Yuma, Arizona. Funeral services for Alice Herrold will be 2:00 pm Saturday April 24 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with burial following at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, April 23 at Linn’s Funeral Home 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa (50126). Velma Alice Shields was born January 19, 1928, to Nelson Bay and Goldie Pearle (Briner) Shields on the home farm in Decatur County, Iowa on May 3, 1945, Alice was united in marriage to Harvey Henry Herrold and to this union five children were born Richard, Patricia, Linda, Robert, and Charles. Alice and Harvey owned Herrold Truck Line, where Alice was an active driver until 1985 and continued on as bookkeeper for her son Robert until 2018. She also worked 25+ years at Eldora Greenhouse. Alice was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church where she was active in the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League and Ladies Aide. Alice loved assisting in the care of the church flower beds.

Alice is survived by her children: Richard (Nancy) Herrold of Fairfax, Iowa, Patricia (Bart) Lyon of Temple, Texas, Linda (Chuck) Nelson of Yuma, Arizona, Robert (Julie) Herrold of Eldora, Iowa, Charles Herrold of White Rock, British Columbia; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother: Joe (Ramadean) Shields, and two sisters: Cleone (Tom) Woughter, Virginia (Stephen) Howard.

Alice is preceded in death by her sister: Betty Wetzler; parents Pearle and Nelson Shields; husband Harvey Herrold; brother Jack Shields; sister Hazel Newton; and brother; Edgar Shields.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more for the former things have passed away.
