     Maurice (Maury) Dane Burns of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Monday, May 14,2018.     Maurice Dane Burns was born on July 22, 1927 in Alden, Iowa to Dane T. Burns and Nina Mae (Barrick) Burns. in their home. He graduated from Iowa Falls High school in 1945. Maurice attended Ellsworth College from 1945-1946. He attended UNI from 1947 - 1948. He was employed by Ralston Purina/Cargill from 1941 - 1987. Maurice married Margret Ann Hife at the 1st United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls on October 6,1946. Maurice served in the Army from June 13, 1946 to April 7, 1947. After his wife died on May 12, 1998 he married Helen E. Craighton on July 14, 2001.

    Maurice was a member of the American Legion Post in Iowa Falls for 43 years. He was Past Commander of the Legion in 1987 and member of the Trustees Board of the American Legion. He was a Boy Scout leader from 1960- 1975. One of his favorite accomplishments was attending the Boy Scouts National Jamboree in 1969. He was a former member of the Masons and BPOE [Elks]. Maurice was a member of Church of Christ in Hampton, Iowa, but had been attending the 1st Christian Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

    Those left to cherish Maurice Burns are his wife, Helen Burns of Iowa Falls; His son Michael (Rebecca) of Cedar Falls, Iowa.; his step sons Marvin Raisch of Mesa, Arizona and Gary Raisch (LuAnn) of Iowa Falls, IA; and step-daughter Barbara M. Blue (Wayne) of Kamrar, Iowa; a brother Marlyn D. (Dorothy) Burns of Iowa Falls, Iowa; grandson Thomas (Nicole) Burns; granddaughter Sarah (Christopher) Valentine; and great grandchildren Avalon Burns, Jasper Burns, Connor Valentine and Liam Valentine. He was preceded in death by his parents Dane and Nina Burns, his wife Margaret, brother Robert Gene Burns, sister Marlys D Burns (in infancy), and son Mark Allen Burns (toddler).
