To the entire Kugel family, I was stationed in Sardinia with Ken for around two years 82-84. He was my best friend on the ship and we were inseparable. I met him one night while playing my guitar in the shower/ restroom. We shared a love of music together and started a rock band that lasted until I was discharged in October of 84. I kept in touch with him by phone for several years, we lost track of each other after that. Marriage, kids and work got in the way. I remember his Preist tattoo, wasn't a good one Lol! He worked in the re-wind shop and I was the night cook in the galley. Your son, husband, father was one of the best men I've ever had the pleasure to know. I think of him often and remember all the gigs, band practices and good times we had together as a couple of young sailors far away from home. I got on Facebook to reconnect with my old bandmates and friends from those days and was crushed to find out about his passing! I should have done it sooner, we used to talk about visiting each other after we both got out of the navy. Sadly it never happened. At least I have an old vide tape of us playing live to remember him by. Wish I would've had the chance to see him and say goodbye. I hope you are all doing well in the years since his passing! Regards, Kerry Rogers.

My heartfelt sympathies to the extended Kugel family. I will always remember Ken for his quiet demeanor, kind smile and his passion for music. It was clear back in high school that music would always be woven into his life. God's peace to you all in this very emotional and difficult time. Rock on.

Wishing the family of Ken peace and comfort. We enjoyed listening to the Mudpuppies when they would play in Marshalltown at Jake's Game Room. The music and the memories will last forever. Blessings to you all.

I am maybe guessing, Kevin... This was the brother who gave you the guitar I saw you play in Charles City. You were like a kid at Christmas.. Bro did ya right! May he rock out the the clocks never change in heaven.. And he will have a good view of his six string.. My condolences.
