James Anthony Picht, 93 of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Sunday October 8, 2017 at the Ashbrook Assisted Living at the Scenic Living Communities of Iowa Falls. Funeral services for James Picht will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church; 313 Lee Lane; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. A time of visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:00 am Saturday October 14, 2017, also at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association of Iowa; ℅ Linn’s Funeral Home; 1521 Washington Ave.; Iowa Falls, IA 50126.

     James Anthony Picht was born December 7, 1923 to Russell and Amelia [Glade] Picht. He was baptized and confirmed. He received his early education at country school until 5th Grade, when in 1932 he transferred to the Alden Public Schools and graduated in 1941. After their house burned in 1947, they moved back to Iowa Falls in 1950 and built a house. He was a 4-H leader for several years, the Director at Beaver Valley Country School, Vice President of Immanuel Lutheran Church when built, Drainage District Director, and enjoyed wintering 16 years in Texas. On January 29, 1950, James was united in marriage to Marlys Irene Fahrmann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Rhonda, Kent, Linda Brenda, and Sondra. James and Marlys farmed in the Iowa Falls area all of their lives. They retired to their home in Iowa Falls in 1990. He was a dedicated husband, father, and businessman. James enjoyed traveling, golf, playing cards, big band dancing, and listening to good music. James was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls.

     James Anthony Picht is survived by one son: Kent [Rhonda] Picht of Iowa Falls, Iowa; four daughters: Rhonda Peterson of Forest City, Iowa, Linda [Denny] Ofstedahl of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Brenda Meineke of Muscatine, Iowa, and Sondra [Jeff] Ostheimer of Boscobel, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren: Jason, Sara, Jamie, Jesse, Jared, Jenna, Jordan, Jillian, Jessica, Abby, Paige, Nathan, Daniel, Ryan, and Casey; and 14 great-grandchildren: Brice, Brock, Charlie, Megan, Maya, Makayla, Grady, Ashlyn, Elianna, Esme, Kelsey, Mitchell, Benjamin and Ella.

    James Picht was preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Amelia Picht and his wife: Marlys Picht.
