Herman and Elenor [Duncan] Morgan
June 19, 1920 ~ May 10, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years OldHerman Franklin Morgan, 96, formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away May 10, 2017 at the Pioneer Ridge Nursing Facility, Lawrence, Kansas. His wife Elenor Hilka [Duncan] Morgan, 91, formerly of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away October 16, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kansas. An inurnment for both will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.
Herman Franklin Morgan was born in St Paul, Kansas on July 19, 1920 to William and Clara [Schreuer] Morgan. Elenor Hilka [Duncan] Morgan was born in Alden, Iowa on Nov. 13, 1923 to Hobart and Hilka [Tjarks] Duncan. She died in Lawrence, Kansas, on Oct. 16, 2015. The couple met in Iowa when Herman came there to work on a farm next to Elenor's family farm They were married on April 20, 1942 in Bethany, Missouri. At the time of Elenor's death, they had been married 73 1/2 years. Herman and Elenor had two children, Larry Franklin Morgan and Sharon Jean [Morgan] Aikins. The couple lived in Iowa until 1955 when they moved to Kansas where they resided the rest of their lives. While in Iowa, Herman was a farmer and later owned a service station. Elenor was a homemaker and owned and operated a craft shop in Erie, Kansas. After retirement, the couple spent their time traveling. Winters they spent in south Texas. They are survived by their daughter: Sharon Aikins, Lawrence, Kansas; grandsons: Russell Morgan, Mound City, Kansas, and Kurt Aikins, Lawrence, Kansas; granddaughter: Kimberly Aikins-Steinbacher, Olathe, Kansas; two great-grandchildren: Kamaryn and Drake Gibson, Olathe, Kansas; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding them in death are all four parents; their son, Larry; grandson, Robert Franklin Morgan; Mr. Morgan's brother Bill and sister Regina; Mrs. Morgan's brothers Jim, Frank, Hobie and sister Jane, all from Iowa.
