Elfrieda (Rau) Hackbarth

Elfrieda  Hackbarth, 91, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Elfrieda Hackbarth will be 10:30 am Monday, February 12, 2018 at the First Christian Church; 221 Fischer; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. In lieu of flowers Elfrieda requested that memorials be sent to the Greenbelt Humane Society or to American Diabetes Association. Elfrieda Rau was born January 23, 1926 in Ackley, Iowa to Otto and Anna [Luecht] Rau. She attended the Ackley Community Schools until she graduated in 1944. On December 16, 1949 Elfrieda was united in marriage to Kent LeRoy Hackbarth at the Congregational Church in Ackley. She attended St. John’s UCC in Ackley, and First Christian Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa. During her life she worked at Price’s Hatchery and the Scenic City Motel in Iowa Falls. Elfrieda had a love for birds and animals, especially cats.

Elfrieda Hackbarth is survived by her sisters-in-law: Pearl [Bob] Thompson and Norma Hackbarth; her brother-in-law: Gene Johnson; many nieces and nephews. Elfrieda Hackbarth was preceded in death by her parents: Otto and Anna Rau; her husband: Kent Hackbarth; her son: James Hackbarth; sister: Ella Windecker; sisters-in-law: Marjorie [Dave] Maupin, Kathleen Johnson; and brothers-in-law: Gerald Hackbarth, Lyle [Lois] Hackbarth.
