     David Laverne Dickenson, 76, of Owasa, Iowa passed away July 29, 2017 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services for Dave Dickenson will be 10:30 am Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Methodist Church in Owasa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday July 31, 2017 at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Dave Dickenson Memorial; C/O Joanne Dickenson; 410 Jackson St.; Iowa Falls, IA 50126. The Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is helping the family with the arrangements. 

 

     Dave Dickenson was born March 29, 1941 to Adrian and Jacquelyn Jane [Wilson] Dickenson at their home in Gifford, Iowa. Dave attended the Gifford Country School and graduated from Eldora High School in 1958. On November 15, 1976 he was united in marriage to Joanne Marie Winters. During his life he worked locally at Orv’s Phillips 66, Lawn Hill Co-op Elevator and Farmland Foods. He worked most of his life for the State of Iowa Boys Training School in Eldora and retired in 2003. Dave was a member of the Owasa Methodist Church and was their treasurer/secretary for many years. He liked hunting, fishing and gardening, but his true love was working with wood, making custom furniture for many people around the community.

     Dave Dickenson is survived by his wife: Joanne Dickenson of Owasa, Iowa; five children: Mary [Travis] Kriegel of Eldora, Iowa, Doug Dickenson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Christopher “Kip” [Denise] Dickenson of State Center, Iowa, David Dickenson Jr. of Melbourne, Iowa, and Kathy [David Clark] Barber of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-daughter Debra [Carl] Myers of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister: Judy Martin of Eldora; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Dickenson of Gifford, Iowa, and Iva Dickenson of Union, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dave Dickenson was preceded in death by his parents Adrian and Jacquelyn Dickenson; a daughter: Lori Needham; two brothers: Jack and Robert Dickenson; and a grandson: Jason Needham.
