Dale E Eldridge

    Dale E. Eldridge of Iowa Falls passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa, surrounded by his family, he was 93 years old. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel; 1521 Washington Ave.; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.     Dale was born on May 11, 1924 on his parent’s farm west of Owasa. He was the son of H.V. Eldridge and Clara (Kelderhouse) Eldridge. He graduated from Owasa High School in 1942. Dale drove school bus for the Owasa school district then went into farming. He was united in marriage to Edith Schelling on February 8, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grundy Center, Iowa. Dale farmed north of Owasa for many years before purchasing his parent’s farm in 1961, where he resided until three weeks ago. Dale retired from farming in 1988. He was very active throughout the community. He served as president on the Owasa Coop Elevator Board for 30 years. He was a 4-H leader for Jackson 4-H Club for 10 years. Dale could also be found running up and down the basketball courts with Ted Ridout, which he did for 28 years. In 1982 Dale went to work for Farm Mutual Insurance. He continued this job until 2013, when at the age of 89 decided to retire from walking the fields. Dale and Edith enjoying traveling and became Winter Texans in 1977. They enjoyed spending the winter months where it was warm. They made their home in the San Benito area of Texas. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family and most of all visiting with people. There was never a person that Dale didn’t want to meet.

    Dale was survived by three children, son Gary and his wife Sue Eldridge of Iowa Falls, Iowa, daughter B.J. Eldridge of Winterset, Iowa, and daughter Lori and husband Randy Mulford of Iowa Falls; four grandchildren, Karisa Cross of Hubbard, Iowa, Ashley Mulford of Grapevine, Texas, Clayton and Amanda Mulford of Bellevue, Nebraska and Sarah (Mulford) Lemper and wife Chelsea of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and two great grandchild, Rylin Cross of Hubbard and Grayson Mulford of Grapevine, Texas.

    He was preceded into death by his wife Edith Schelling Eldridge, one son, Bill Eldridge, his parents H.V. and Clara Eldridge and one brother, Walter Eldridge.
