Betty Riebkes Obituary

    Betty Lou Riebkes, 88, of Iowa Falls passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Betty Lou Riebkes will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Austinville Christian Reformed Church in Austinville, Iowa. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Linn’s Funeral Home Chapel of Iowa Falls. Burial will at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls.      Betty Lou King was born January 26, 1931, to the daughter of Edward August King and Leah Amelia (Riley) King at Hubbard, Iowa. She attended country grade school, along with Central School in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1949. She attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota for one year. On November 23, 1951 she was united in marriage to Elmer John Riebkes at the First Congregational Church in Iowa Falls. God blessed Elmer and Betty with two children: Craig and Dee Ann. She worked for the Iowa Falls Community School District for many years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Austinville Christian Reformed Church, a secretary of The Golden Hour Circle, and a Cub Scout Leader for many years. Betty was a culinary artist and excellent seamstress. She was a homemaker with a passion for caring for all children. Betty loved hosting family gatherings and making each person feel special and loved. She had an unwavering Christian faith.

     Betty Lou Riebkes is survived by her husband Elmer Riebkes of Alden, Iowa; her children: Craig [Kimberly] Riebkes of Huntsville, Texas and Dee  [Doug] Reiling of Madrid, Iowa; two grand children: Jenni Elings and Joseph Pruismann; two great-grandchildren: Lilly and Luka; and two sisters: Grace Hornung of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Rose Bahr of Hubbard, Iowa. Betty Lou Riebkes was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Leah King; four brothers: Jerry King, Harold King, Cecil King, and Lawrence King; two sisters: June King, and Mae Carlson; and one granddaughter: Katie Elizabeth Riebkes.
