Some people just want to have the necessary biographical information on file at the funeral home in case something should happen while they are away from home or wintering at a different location. Others will take the time to pre-select services and merchandise in advance so the family will have their choices known if something should happen; and still other chose to prepay for the services and merchandise in advance so that the price would be guaranteed.
Preplanning allows the person to express their own wishes avoiding conflict among family members because those requests are known in advance and pre-planning can provide the availability to prepay for arrangements; ease the financial burden that would be left to family, as well as providing a hedge against future inflation.
