Vione Grace (Eilers) Groen

Vione Grace Groen was born February 1, 1928 to Fred and Rena Etjen Eilers in rural Parkersburg, Iowa. She attended Parkersburg High School until the twelfth grade. On May 1, 1947 Vione married Milo Groen at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg. To this union a son was born: Mike. Vione and Milo were known as an amazing couple with a sweet and special relationship that inspired so much love and fun in Mike and his friends growing up. She was a “tough cookie” who worked third shift as a machine operator at Norwesco in Grundy Center for 33 years to provide for her family until retirement in 1994. Vione enjoyed baking, family get togethers; especially time spent with her brothers and sisters, and coffee visits with dear friends and neighbors. She was a friend to everyone she met.

Those left to cherish Vione Grace Groen is her son: Mike [Cathy] Groen of Parkersburg, Iowa; her brothers and sisters: Junas Kadous of Parkersburg, Norma [Loyal] McLean of Charles City, Iowa, Kay Dove of Parkersburg, Fred Eilers of Waterloo, Iowa, Charles [Janet] Eilers of Creston, Iowa, and Valoy Eilers of Waverly, Iowa; her grandchildren: Molly [Scott] Meyer of Burnsville, Minnesota and Kevin Groen of Parkersburg; many nieces and nephews; dear friend and recent roommate: Fran Heffner of Parkersburg; special friends and neighbors: Phyllis Arends of Parkersburg, Stan and Vickye Thompson of Parkersburg, Joyce Bausman of Parkersburg, Lee Green of Antioch, Illinois, Nancy Kollman of Parkersburg, who would go out of her way to pick up Vione and do her hair for her; and all the great friends  she made at Maple Manor during her time there. Vione Grace Groen. was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Milo Groen in 1990, parents: Fred and Rena Eilers; and her brothers: Calvin, John, and Marvin Eilers.
