Valdeva was born to the late Inez and Leo Thompson on November 30, 1928.  She lived life big! Valdeva was a gifted creative thinker that loved to cook, entertain, antique, travel, decorate, and garden.  In her 50’s, she returned to school and graduated from culinary studies at the community technical college located in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  She lived and communicated often,  “You can do anything you put your mind to.”  She was a knowledgeable antique collector and dealer.  She owned and operated a number of businesses to include:  catering services, bakery, bed and breakfasts, and antique/general store.  Her life-long passions and family always brought her back to Iowa Falls.  She loved attending Adam’s Auctions and raised her number to bid often—at her loved one’s peril.  She would labor for hours going through auction boxes and furniture to discover unexpected treasures.  She was always giving her findings away.  If you dropped by to visit you never left empty handed. Her appetite for culinary experiences and adventure took her to all parts of the world.  She traveled to Turkey twice.  She lived in Wisconsin, North Carolina, and returned home to Iowa Falls.  Her final years were spent at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, Iowa.  She never wavered in her Christian faith.  She has returned home.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the care family at Scenic Manor whom cared for our mother during her final years.

Valdeva is survived by her son and daughters, grandchildren and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husbands, beloved cousins Barbara and Dean Kelsey and granddaughter Rachel Amundsen.
