Doris Veda (Brass) Dufloth

Doris Veda Dufloth, 97, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away May 23, 2016 at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Linn’s Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. A time of visitation with friends and family will be from 5:30 until 7:30 pm Thursday, May 26, 2016 also at the Linn’s Funeral Home. Doris Veda Brass was born December 19, 1918 at her parents farm in the Lee Township of Franklin County. She was born to John Ehman and Mae Helen [Kirsebom] Brass with one brother and three sisters. She attended the Prairie Hill Country School until grade 8. She also attended the College of Cosmetology in Waterloo, graduating from there in 1938. On July 27, 1941 she was married to Theodore Emil Dufloth in Lebanon, South Dakota. To this marriage four children were born: Veda, Irene, Rachel, and LaVonne. Later on in life she legally adopted two of her grandchildren as her children: Janet and April. During most of her life she was a homemaker, but she did work in retail sales, at the sale barn, the Baptist Assembly, and the Metropolitan Theatre during different times of her life. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Iowa Falls, Iowa after she moved here in 1955. She was well known in the neighborhood with her daughters friends because of her fresh homemade donuts.

Those left to cherish the memory of Doris Veda Dufloth are her four daughters: Veda [Sam Roberts] Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, Irene [Greg] Huebner of Millbrook, Alabama, Rachel White of Coralville, Iowa, and LaVonne Ellison of Iowa Falls, Iowa; one sister: Florence Neuendorf of Iowa Falls; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one future great-grandchild; and one step-grandchild. She has gone on to join her parents: John Ehman and Mae Helen Brass; her husband: Ted Dufloth; her brother: John W. Brass; two sisters: Amanda Brass and Neva Alt; and two son-in-laws: Ronald Johnson and Donald Ellison.
