Donald Oscar Pommrehn, 85, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away June 23, 2016 at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church; 209 Main Street; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be directed to: Donald Pommrehn Memorial; c/o: The First United Methodist Church; 619 Main Street; Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.

Donald Oscar Pommrehn was born August 15, 1930 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was born to Arthur Richard and Leona Kearn [Dick] Pommrehn, with two brothers, Richard and Douglas. He attended the Alden Community School District, switching to Iowa Falls Community School District in grade 12 and graduating from there. After graduating he attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. On June 2, 1950 he was united in marriage to Darlene June Hackbarth in Iowa Falls. To this marriage two children were born: John, and Susan. During most of his life he was a mail carrier with Iowa Falls Post Office, but after retirement he worked for Baldwin Hardware until the sale of the business. He was  in the U.S. Navy and U.S Naval Reserve from 1949 to 1956. He was a charter member of The Kiawana’s, a former member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE), member out at The Meadow Hills Golf Course, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls.

Those left to cherish the memory of Donald Oscar Pommrehn are his daughter: Susan Jaenke of Iowa Falls, Iowa; daughter-in-law Vicki Pommrehn of Iowa Falls; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He has gone on to join his parents: Arthur Richard and Leona Kearn Pommrehn; his wife: Darlene June Pommrehn; his two brothers: Richard and Douglas “Jack” Pommrehn; his son: John Carrol Pommrehn; and his granddaughter: HM2 Jaime Jaenke.
