David Howard Lentsch, 48, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Friday. Funeral services for David Howard Lentsch will be 11:00 am Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the First Christian Church, 221 Fischer Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Linn's funeral Home 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to his wife: Patti Lentsch, 610 Oak Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Private family burial will be at a later date. David Howard Lentsch was born November 23, 1961, at Ft. Dodge Iowa the son of Janice M. [Gerdes] and Howard Urban Lentsch. He attended School in Barnum and Ft. Dodge, Iowa and also attended Iowa Central College in Ft. Dodge. He was married to Brenda Haines in Clare, Iowa and they were later divorced. On September 9, 1999, he was united in marriage to Patti Ann Severson at Humbolt, Iowa. David worked as a seedman for Dekalb Seeds and then for Remington Seeds. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls. David H. Lentsch is survived by his wife: Patti Severson-Lentsch of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his mother: Janice Maddy of Iowa Falls; his children: Matthew [Barbara] Copenhaver of Ankeny, Iowa, David Munsell of Des Moines, Iowa, Crystal Messer, Brandie Messer, Ashley Messer, Myra Messer, Angel Lentsch, and Brianna Lentsch all of Iowa Falls; two grandchildren: Madison and Mason Copenhaver of Ankeny; a sister: Jaci [Mike] Jones of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Howard Lentsch and his step-father: Jim Maddy. |

Dorothy L. Pruyn, 91, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of Iowa Falls, Iowa and formerly of Latimer, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Scenic Manor, two days short of her 92nd birthday. In keeping with Dorothy's wishes her body has been cremated. There will be a memorial service for Dorothy L. Pruyn at 3:00 pm Friday, July 2, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, 619 Main Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with inurnment at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Dorothy Lee Dickenson was born July 1, 1918, at her parent's home in Franklin County, Iowa, the daughter of John A. and Anna Joanna [Kuhlman] Dickenson. She graduated from the Owasa, Iowa Community Schools with the class of 1935. On April 29, 1937, Dorothy was united in marriage to William Lyle Pruyn at Chillicothe, Missouri. Dorothy worked with Bill in the funeral business at the Sietsema - Pruyn Funeral Home in Latimer, Iowa for many years. She was also a bookkeeper for the Latimer Grain Company for 16 years and had also worked 8 years for the Fashionette Dress Shop in Hampton, Iowa. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls; and was a 52 year member of the United Church of Christ, Latimer. She was an avid sports fan, following the Iowa Hawkeye's football and basketball teams and the Minnesota Vikings. Surviving Dorothy are two grandchildren: Steven [Jennifer] Pruyn of Alexandria, Virginia, Traci [Mike] Heidemann of Lakeville, Minnesota; five great grandchildren: Anna Corinne and Claire Frances Pruyn of Alexandria, Virginia, Ashley Marie, Afton Pruyn, and Adam Richard Heidemann of Lakeville, Minnesota; and a sister: Edna Jean Tillema of Kissimmee, Florida; daughter-in-law: JoAn Pruyn of Lawrence, Kansas; and dear friend: Robert Faris of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Joanna Dickenson; her husband: Bill Pruyn (1990); her son: Murry John Pruyn (2003); a sister: Minnie Leonard; and two brothers: Jack Dickenson and David Dickenson |

Ethel Williams, 90, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Scenic Manor Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Ethel Williams will be 1:30 Monday, June 28, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls, with burial to follow at the Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Ethel Mae Eva Rounds was born July 9, 1919, at her parents home in Becker, Minnesota, the daughter of Florence Dell [McVicker] and Charles Stepford Rounds. She graduated from the Dows, Iowa Community Schools with the class of 1937. On August 26, 1940, Ethel was united in marriage to Elwood E. Williams at Mason City, Iowa. The couple came to Iowa Falls in 1942. She worked 30 years for the Iowa Falls Community Schools Food Service with most of her time spent at Central School. Ethel was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls including the United Methodist Women and Sarah Circle, and the Iowa Falls Garden Club. Ethel Williams is survived by two daughters: Judy [Carroll] Paulson of Ogden, Iowa, Linda [Bob] Schelling of Marshalltown, Iowa; a son: Larry [Laura] Williams of St. Louis, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Ileen Garnsey, Joan King; and 1 brother: Virgil [Christine] Rounds. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Florence Rounds; her husband: Elwood "Shorty" Williams; and a daughter: Carol Newberg. |

Leonard A. Greiner, 90, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard Greiner will be 10:30 am Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 415 Main Street, Iowa Falls, with Father Paul Baldwin officiating. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with a 7:00 pm church vigil service. Burial will be at the St. Mark Cemetery, Iowa Falls, with military honors provided by Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post #188, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street SE, Mason City, IA 50401, or to St. Mark Catholic Church, 415 Main Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Alfred "Leonard" Terence Greiner was born March 9, 1920, at Ogilvie, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Margaret [Bohrofen] and George Alexander Greiner. He graduated from the Hudson, Iowa Community Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 13, 1942 and on November 2, 1943, he was discharged as a Sergeant so he could reenlist on November 3, 1943, as a First Lieutenant. He served as a pilot during Normandy and Southern France and Western Europe Campaigns receiving several Battle Participation Credits, the American Legion Medal for outstanding work. the 1st Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was retired on August 29, 1945. On January 30, 1946 Leonard was united in marriage to Mary Louise Hermann at Roseville, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Margaret, James, Steven, Joan, and John. The couple farmed northeast of Alden, Iowa for many years. He was a member of the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post # 188, Iowa (Past Commander), also Past Commander of the Hardin County Contingent of the American Legion, the Highland Golf Club, and former member of the Iowa Falls Kiwanis. Leonard is survived by his wife: Mary Greiner of Iowa Falls; his children: James [Barbara] Greiner of Iowa Falls, Steven [Beverly] Greiner of Ackley, Iowa, Joan [Randy] Jennings of Iowa Falls, Iowa; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a sister: Dorothy Pitts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Margaret Greiner; a daughter: Margaret Louise Greiner an infant son: John Greiner; brothers: John Greiner, Paul Greiner, Joseph Greiner, Lawrence Greiner, Raymond Greiner; and sisters: Veronica Greiner, Eda Sherry, Leona Merfeld, and Cathryn Gerhard. |

Alvin Boyenga, 85, of Ackley, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa. A memorial service for Alvin Boyenga will be 10:30 Thursday, June 17th at the United Methodist Church, 416 Hardin Street, Ackley, Iowa with inurnment at the East Friesland Cemetery, rural Ackley. Military Honors will be provided by the Elliott - Keninger American Legion Post # 252, Ackley. The Linn's Funeral Homes Ackley Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Alvin Boyde Boyenga was born May 3, 1924, the son of Tena [Bleeker] and Edward Boyenga at the family home in Osceola Township near Faulkner, Iowa. He attended rural Faulkner Country School through the 4th grade and then attended and graduated from the Ackley, Iowa Community Schools with the class of 1942. Alvin served with the United States Army during World War II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations in Okinawa and Korea. On August 18, 1954 he was united in marriage to Esther Louise Van Loh at her parents home in Ackley, Iowa. To this union a daughter: Sharon was born. Alvin worked for Ralston Purina, Boyt Manufacturing, Swift Co., all of Iowa Falls and then went to work for over 20 years at Ackley Foods, Ackley. He also worked for J. M. Hunt and Sons during harvest season. He was a former member of East Friesland Church, a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church and currently a member of the United Methodist Church, Ackley, Iowa. He was also a longtime member of the Ackley American Legion Post # 252. Alvin Boyenga is survived by his daughter: Sharon Boyenga of Ackley, Iowa; 2 sisters: Marion Bodecker of Waterloo, Iowa, Betty [Jim] Wilkens of Marshalltown, Iowa; a sister-in-law: Helen Benning of Ackley, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Tena Boyenga; his wife: Esther Boyenga; 2 brothers: Arlys Boyenga and Edward Boyenga; a nephew: Greg Boyenga; and a niece: Susan Bristley. |

Robert L. Husted, 80, of Alden, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Robert L. Husted will be 10:30 Friday, June 11, 2010, at the Linn's Funeral Chapel, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Michael Mentzer officiating. A Time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Alden Cemetery, Alden, Iowa. Robert LeRoy Husted was born March 6, 1930, at Confidence, Iowa, in Wayne County the son of Hallie Mae Peters. He attended Country School near Confidence. He served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On April 23, 1952 Robert was united in marriage to Marcene Joyce Brinkman at Eagle Grove, Iowa. To this union two sons were born: Roger and Rocco. Robert was a heavy equipment operator with road construction for many years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (AFL-CIO) since 1975, and a 60 years member of the American Legion Post 0523, Dows, Iowa. Robert L. Husted is survived by his wife: Marcene Husted of Alden, Iowa; his sons: Roger [Vicki] Husted of Alden, Iowa; Rocco [Diane] Husted of Alden, Iowa; five grandchildren: Justin Hoelscher of Waverly, Iowa, Travis Husted of Elkhart, Iowa, Ryan Hoelscher of Urbandale, Iowa, Angela [Michael] Mentzer of Alden, Iowa, Joseph [Brenda] Husted of Iowa Falls, Iowa; eight great grandchildren: Trevor Husted, Olivia Raymond, Colton Mentzer, Caden Mentzer, Amanda King, Anton Reiter, Trey Husted, and Tanner Husted. Judith Ann Kasischke is survived by her husband: Martin Kasischke of Eldora, Iowa; her brother: Donn J. Riekena of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her daughters: Kim Kasischke and Tami [David McClellan] Kasischke; two granddaughters: Chelsea and Kacy; two great grandsons: Jaxson and Logen. Butch was a truck driver most recently employed by Christenson Farms and Iowa Select Farms. Butch Grimm is survived by his children; Kenneth W. Grimm of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Jeremy [Ashley] Grimm of Jesup, Iowa, Laura Bailey of Ackley, Iowa, Christopher [Melanie] Grimm of Traer, Iowa, Casey [Julie] Grimm of Iowa Falls; ten grandchildren; his siblings: Leonard Grimm and James Grimm. Veneta Rose Norman, 82, of Iowa Falls, and formerly of Geneva and Bradford, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Veneta Rose Norman will be 10:30 am Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the First Christian Church, 221 Fischer Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa with Pastor T. J. Norman officiating. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Lindenwood Cemetery, Geneva, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family c/o her son: T. J. Norman, 402 Ohio Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa, 50126. Veneta Rose Dodd was born on June 30 1927, in Franklin County, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Marie [Taylor] and William Victor Dodd. She attended school in Hansell, Iowa and graduated in 1945. Veneta was united in marriage to Darwin Norman at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa, on June 2, 1946. She and Darwin had five children and lived in Geneva and Bradford most of their 43 year marriage. Veneta worked as a cook at the Geneva school, clerked in the couples grocery store in Bradford, and was a nurses aid at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls until Darwin's ill health forced her retirement. Veneta enjoyed scrap booking, shopping, bible study, driving around in her little car, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Iowa Falls, and a member of the church's Christian Women's Fellowship. Veneta will be greatly missed by two daughters: Cheryl Kent of Alden, Iowa, Connie [Darrell] Bohlen of Shell Rock, Iowa, three sons: Jerry [Marcie] Norman of Bradford, Iowa, T.J. [Laurie] Norman of Iowa Falls, and Mark [Judy] Norman of Bradford; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister: Donna [Norman] Roegner of Ackley, Iowa, two brothers: Bud Dodd of Geneva and Dan [Carolyn] Dodd of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law: Theresa Dodd of Gladstone, Missouri, Bonnie Norman of Hampton, Iowa and by many nieces and nephews. Veneta was preceded in death by her parents: William and Francis Dodd; her husband: Darwin Norman; two grandchildren; her son-in-law: George Kent; and a brother: Don Dodd. |

Edna G. Lee, 86, of Iowa Falls passed away on Thursday May 13, 2010 at Presbyterian Village. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Monday, May 17, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 619 Main Street, Iowa Falls, with Reverend Dr. Jeff Blackman officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Memorials mare requested to the Iowa Heart Association. She was born April 9, 1924 in rural Hardin County, the daughter of Theodore C. and Ella Smith Crosser. Edna and Herman Jean Lee were married January 16, 1944 in Iowa Falls by Rev. Harold Dorrance at the Open Bible Church parsonage. They were farming south of Iowa Falls when military duties called. Edna worked for DeBaggio’s Grill in Eldora during the time Herman was serving in Germany. After he returned home, Herman worked at Dettbarn’s Service Station, farmed for Fred Fuller before moving to Iowa Falls in January 1948 to the home they built and lived in for the rest of their life. Three children were born to this union, Donna, Larry and Rodney Lee. Edna was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa Falls and former member of Hardin County Genealogy Society and the Iowa Falls Craft Club. Surviving are 3 Children - Donna (Dave) Reed, Larry (Linda) Lee and Rodney (Mary) Lee, 5 Grandchildren - Marcene (Roy), Stacy (Mike), Mike, Lance and Amanda and 4 Great Grandchildren – Devin, Alexis, Chloey, and Sebastian. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman, 5 brothers: Harold Crosser, Fred Crosser, Dean Crosser, Eugene Crosser, Ernest Crosser and 3 Sisters: Blanche Albrecht, Sylvia Newell and Elsie Sievert. |
